Mrs. Gattis

Mrs. Gattis teaches English/ Language Arts at Woodville High School. Currently, Mrs. Gattis teaches all 7th and 8th grade English classes, one 10th grade class, and one section of Theatre I. In addition to her teaching duties, Mrs. Gattis also serves as the sponsor for the WHS Cheerleaders and will be coaching the WHS Track Team in the spring. Mrs. Gattis was born and raised in Scottsboro, Alabama, where she graduated from high school in 2008. She then went on to attend the University of Alabama for her bachelor's degree in history with a minor in English. After graduating from the University of Alabama, Mrs. Gattis attended graduate school at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) where she earned a master's degree in history with a secondary education certification. Mrs. Gattis has been teaching secondary history, English, and social studies classes for over 8 years, in addition to dual enrollment history courses through NACC. The 2021-2022 academic year is her first year at WHS, and she is excited to be a member of the great faculty/staff at Woodville High School!

Mrs. Gattis currently lives in Scottsboro with her husband John, a former nurse, and current lawncare company owner. Mrs. Gattis enjoys spending her free time enjoying her family and friends, reading good mystery novels, and traveling. She is an active member of the Scottsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where her family have been members for over 30 years. In her down time, Mrs. Gattis loves nothing more than to spoil her dog Gus, a 6 year old cockapoo. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Gattis is also works as a grant writer, a facilitator for AP Literature study sessions, and an external evaluator for 21st CCLC afterschool programs in the Jackson County school system.
