Taking Advantage Of Dual-Enrollment Opportunities

Taking Advantage Of Dual-Enrollment Opportunities

When Ty Ridley began his junior year of high school he also embarked on his college journey. Like several others at North Jackson High School, he has taken advantage of the technical dual-enrollment scholarship opportunities offered through Northeast Alabama Community College. This scholarship application allows students to pair an academic course with a technical-related course to be considered for tuition scholarships. During high school, Ty has received over $3,500 in scholarships through this program.

Through taking college coursework in computer information systems, Ty has decided to major in computer engineering after graduation. He plans to complete his associate degree at Northeast where he will have already completed 40 hours of coursework. He was named to the Deans List for the fall semester where he took 16 hours (full load) of college classes while also being a high school student. He then plans on completing his degree at UAH.

Ty is very involved at North Jackson High School. He is an SGA senior representative, takes the AP computer science course, member of Beta Club, and a member of the Academic Excellence Committee.

Ty is the son of John and Karrin Ridley of Stevenson and the grandson of John Ridley and Terry Ragan. He is a member of the Stevenson Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Ty exemplifies taking advantage of opportunities and working towards making his career goals a reality.
