My name is Leigh-Ann Kittrell, and I am the principal at SMS. My parents are Barry and Sue Smith of Stevenson. I grew up in Stevenson and am proud to call it home. I am married to Chris Kittrell and have 2 sons, Matt and Blake who both attended Stevenson Middle School. Matt and his wife Makayla live in Stevenson and Blake lives in Denver, Colorado. I am a member of First Baptist Church of Stevenson, and I am on the board at the Jackson County ARC. I hold a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Masters' degree in Educational Administration. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, fishing with my dad, kayaking, and spending time with family and friends.
I began teaching 5th grade English in 2000 at SMS. I worked at EPCOT in Hollywood from 2001-2003. I returned to SMS in 2003 and taught 5th grade math, English, and Science then later moved to 6th and taught English. In Aug 2017, I was hired to be over the Jackson County Alternative School. I absolutely loved it!! Now 5 and a half years later I have been given this wonderful opportunity to "come back home" and be the principal at SMS. I am so very excited to be back and be in the role of principal so I can be involved with ALL of the students as well as the faculty and staff. I could not ask for a better welcome from the school and community. Stevenson Middle has always been a wonderful place with high expectations, and I plan to keep up the tradition.
