Welcome to the Stevenson Elementary School Media Center.
I am Melinda Rogers, the Media Specialist. My e-mail is rogersm5@jacksonk12.org. The Library phone number is 256-437-2203 Ext 1.When school is in session, the library is open Monday–Friday (7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.).
Our library provides intellectual access to information and ideas for 21st Century learning. The media center offers intellectual access by providing the opportunity to use the following....
- Accelerated Reader program
- Alabama Virtual Library
- Promethean equipment
- Digital projectors
- Touch Panel with Internet access
- Fiction/nonfiction texts, encyclopedias (text/digital), computers, and dictionaries.
- 1.1 Chromebook access
- Automated card catalog/OPAC and circulation system
- Individual instruction and reading guidance
- Weekly classes for elementary students
- Internet-accessible laptops for student use (for research, online classes, word processing, class projects, taking online tests, etc.)
- Flexible, open access to archived, current, and new resources to meet the educational needs of the school community.
- Access to archived periodicals and new reading materials is also available for viewing or checkout throughout the day and school year for students and teachers.
This opportunity is given within a fixed and flexible schedule timeframe.

The mission of the Library Media Programs is to assist students and staff in becoming lifelong learners and efficient users of information by:
-providing access to different formats of material and media
-promoting a love of learning
-having an inviting library media center for students and faculty
-collaborating with teachers to provide technological and informational needs for all students
-supporting the curriculum of all subject areas
