Mr. Neal Privett

My name is Neal and I teach World History and Dual Enrollment English at North Jackson High. My main academic interests are prehistoric man, ancient civilizations, and literature. I enjoy teaching very much and love the classroom atmosphere. I love to see students learning about other cultures and the world we all share. I love seeing students engaged and filled with the wonder of new knowledge that will help them grow. I studied history, anthropology, education, and English at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. My work experience is varied. In the late nineties, I was an Archaeologist, working in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and Montana on prehistoric and historic sites. Some of the interesting finds I was involved with included Paleo-Indian points that were at least 9,000 years old,  as well as an iron coffin from the 1850s. I have also worked in retail and insurance. When I am not at school, I usually work on the farm, raising cattle with my Dad. In addition to teaching, I am also a published writer, an actor, and a painter. I have traveled in Africa, Europe, and the American west. Teaching at North Jackson is the most rewarding duty I have ever fufilled and I am happy to be on staff here.
