Mrs. Nia Stivers, Nationally Board Certified Teacher

There is no greater feeling than teaching in the school that gave me my OWN education. After fourteen wonderful years at North Sand Mountain, I returned to home to North Jackson in 2017. Bridgeport is my community, and I'm a proud graduate of the NJHS Class of 1998.

Jacksonville State University trained me to teach kids, which is my passion; I feel honored to share my love of English, especially writing, with my students. I teach 11th grade English and Dual Enrollment English 101 and 102 for Northeast Alabama Community College.

I obtained one of my professional goals of becoming Nationally Board Certified in high school English in 2006 and recertified in 2016. It was one of the most difficult yet rewarding processes I have been through.

My husband Jason and I met and began dating at NJ, and we reside in Bridgeport, where we are active members of First Baptist Bridgeport. I teach the youth group there. We have two fur babies, Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, and have been blessed with a "chosen son," his wife and kids, in 2017-18 and 2019-20, we hosted two exchange students, Marta from Sweden and Elli from Austria!

In 2011, I was led to write my "God story," my autobiography, Wobbly Legs on a Firm Foundation. This opportunity encourages me to push my students in their OWN writing.
